The AKC Canine Health Foundation is proud to announce that the annual "Gala by the Gulf" event has garnered close to $130,000 in proceeds to benefit canine health research. Guests, donors, and longtime supporters of the Foundation gathered Friday night, January 13, 2006 for the annual gala. Guests were treated to an elegant evening of music, dinner, and fun and were encouraged to donate to canine health through the silent and live auction. Items for auction included artwork, electronics, and jewelry. "We are so pleased that our donors chose to spend a part of their weekend with us as we celebrated the AKC Nationals," says Wayne Ferguson, president of the CHF. "Our thanks to the donors, sponsors, and volunteers who provided financial leadership and the expertise needed to pull off such a fine event." Individual donors and sponsors of the evening included L'Dyne and Kevin Brennan, The Canine Chronicle, Ms. Carolyn Koch, JoAnn and Roy Kusumoto, and Carla and Joe Sanchez. 2nd Vice President, Mrs. Catherine Bell served as Gala Chair. Mrs. Tina Truesdale served as Auction Chair and President's Council Volunteer, Melanie Steele and their respective committees volunteered their efforts to secure auction donations. St Louis based jazz band "Just in Time," with longtime Purina PetCare supporters Susan and Ernie Planck provided the entertainment for the evening.
