Rent-a-wreck Of Havre Celebrates Twenty Fifth Year Anniversary

Robert and Karin Breum, owners and operators of Rent-A-Wreck of Havre the convenient and cost-saving neighborhood car rental company, are celebrating their 25 th year of success this month.

Since joining the Rent-A-Wreck system, the Havre fleet has evolved from older cars to much newer and well maintained compact vehicles ranging from 1 to 4 years old. "Whether old or new, our vehicles have always run great, so we really don't live up to our name!" laughed Karin. Located at 1219 3 rd street North, Robert and Karin's Rent-A-Wreck is one of more than 300 franchise locations worldwide.

Originally from North Dakota, Robert worked in Milwaukee as an Administrative Manager of Mead Corporation for 10 years. In 1975 he decided he was tired of living the stressful corporate lifestyle so he and Karin, his wife of 44 years, moved to Montana to pursue a quieter way of living. Once they settled, Robert started a small car repair shop called Midtown Car Care. In 1981 Robert added Rent-A-Wreck of Havre to provide an inexpensive car rental and towing service to local folks and many tourists who were looking to explore Montana's beautiful landscape. Robert notes that having Rent-A-Wreck in the same building as the repair shop allows them to keep their cars regularly maintained and the prices down.

"Our focus over the past twenty five years has been to meet the used car rental needs of the community. We've made the Rent-A-Wreck name stand for quality and service," said Karin, adding that they enjoy providing service for and getting to know customers who come from as far away as France.

Karin and Robert operate their family businesses with the help of their oldest son Michael. They share their love for the great outdoors with their customers, spending their free time golfing, fishing, hunting, biking and skiing.
