Teens Flock To Unlock Plato's Closet

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

In the see-and-be-seen world of teen fashion, clothes are every bit as important as the latest phone. Now, trend-driving teens who frequent stores like Abercrombie & Fitch and Charlotte Russe can make and save money at Plato's Closet, a resale store aimed squarely at the Laguna Beach-watching crowd.

Plato's Closet is new to the Houston area, and has recently opened locations in the teen-heavy suburbs of Katy and Sugar Land. The store accepts and sells current clothing.

Unlike many resale shops, Plato's Closet isn't consignment based. Rather, it buys items outright. Clothing must be clean, in good condition, in season and folded in bags. The stores are looking for clothing in girls' junior sizes 00 to 15/16 and guys' sizes 28 to 38/40. The more recognizeable the brand or store the better. Hollister, bebe, Forever 21, Gap, J. Crew and Skechers are among the hot labels bought and sold at Plato's Closet.
