Make Super Suppers A Reality With Cena's Meals-to-go.

Wednesday, August 30, 2006

"Hey mom! What's for dinner?" Hmm. Sound familiar? If those simple words send a sense of dread through your bones, then maybe you need a break from the dinner dilemma. Speaking from experience, I can say that make-ahead meals can be a lifesaver for busy families. I used the service for several months when I went back to work last year, knowing that I would be too busy or just too tired to cook after a long day. Time after time, it was comforting to know that dinner was the one thing that I didn't have to worry about. The hardest part was deciding which dish we would pull from our well-stocked freezer. While there's several businesses in our area that offer meals-to-go, the newest is Rancho Bernardo's Cena. Open since mid-June and located at 11808 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 110, Cena offers patrons the opportunity to assemble meals in its Mediterranean-influenced store in the Mercado shops. Walk into Cena and you'll feel like you're right at home. The decor is thoughtful and classy leather couches, chandeliers and bistro tables beckon clients to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee, lemonade or a fresh-baked raspberry scone as they await their session. Owner Cynthia Elizondo also has a solution for busy seniors who don't want to fuss with cooking. She's offering six, pre-made dinners delivered to customers on Monday for $69.95. The meals serve two, and customers also can order side dishes for an additional fee. For others who don't mind the typical two-hour assembly time for 12 meals, Cena is ready with a rotating, monthly menu of 14 entrees from which to choose. Customers pre-order their selections and schedule a time to attend a session. Once there, patrons move from station to station which are stocked with all the recipe's ingredients. Customers follow simple steps for the recipes which are framed at eye-level using scoops and measuring cups that are stocked at the station. While each of the entrees is priced accordingly, the average cost for 12 meals which serve four to six is $245. For more information, call 858-592-9900 or visit http://www.cenatogo.com.
