Ellianos Coffee Company will offer firefighters and police officers a free medium specialty drink all next week (May 21 - May 25) to lift spirits during the exhausting fight against the blazing fires affecting North Florida and South Georgia. Firefighters and police working to contain the blaze can drive-thru any of Ellianos Coffee Company's participating franchise locations to receive their free specialty beverage. They may choose from any drink on the menu, including: hot coffee and espresso drinks to give them extra energy to fight the blaze, or refreshing iced lattes, latte freezers or fruit smoothies to cool them down after a long shift. "We love to give back to the community," says President Mick Rynning. "We are calling this initiative Service+1, as we always strive to provide the best service to our customers, but we want to do one better by giving back to the community and providing service above and beyond expectations. It's our way of showing our deepest appreciation to those who risk their lives to keep our communities safe from harm." The free drink offer is extended to all firefighters and police officers working in North Florida and South Georgia, and is available at the following Ellianos Coffee Company franchised locations: Lake City, Florida (929 SW Main Blvd. and 2950 US HWY 90 W), Macclenny, Florida (793 W. Macclenny Ave- HWY 90), Jacksonville, Florida (1125 S. Lane Ave.), Starke, FL (603 S. Walnut St- HWY 301), and Waycross, GA (1741 Knight Ave). Firefighters and police are asked to either be in uniform or show a badge in order to redeem their free drink. The "Bugaboo" wildfires affecting North Florida and South Georgia have burned over 119,500 acres and are currently about 70% contained. Firefighters and resources from all over Florida and Georgia have been sent in to help contain the blazes. According to an article in the Lake City Reporter on May 16, by Troy Roberts, more than 700 residences have been evacuated near US Highway 441 and about 600 fire personnel are fighting fires in northern Columbia County alone.
