An Insight into some of Britain's coolest brands 2006/07
It's a funny thing, the land of the brand...some have it, some think they're onto it, and some just don't get it at all. In a world where image is everything and then some, what does it take to build a successful, punchy and fashionable front for a product? A celebrity? Perhaps advertising? For the coolsters at TONI&GUY though, they seemed to have nailed it in the "loveable brand" category. They've just been awarded a CoolBrand title. CoolBrands are brands that have become extremely desirable among many style leaders and influencers. They have a certain magic about them, signifying that users have an exceptional sense of taste and style. CoolBrands represents the 18 to 35 market, and so far includes brands such as Prada, Vogue, Jimmy Choo, Alexander McQueen, iPod, Vivienne Westwood and Manolo Blahnik. Judged once a year in the UK, the process begins with a shortlist of 1200 brandsthey're voted on by an independent and voluntary council of experts (made up of opinion formers and style gurus of course!) and after a lengthy process, the highest ranked brands are awarded CoolBrands status.
It's a fickle industry this brand business, where only the coolest cats cut it and the rest are left licking their wounds.
