Norwalk Franchise Stores Now Named "norwalk Furniture & Design"

Norwalk Furniture Corp. will change the name of its Norwalk; The Furniture Idea franchise stores to Norwalk Furniture & Design. Norwalk has 59 franchise locations in the United States and Canada.

Three of the Norwalk, Ohio-based manufacturer's five corporate-owned stores will follow suit. Two Cleveland locations will remain Norwalk Furniture+Design and Norwalk Design Studio.

"The new name more clearly reflects who we are and what we do," said President Rick McKirahan. Norwalk's franchise stores not only offer the manufacturers' personalized upholstery program, but professional in-store design services, a critical value-added service offered at no additional charge.

Norwalk Furniture Corp. is a leader in custom seating and upholstered furniture, offering delivering to the consumer within 35 days.

"No other custom upholstery manufacturer offers our combination of quality, selection, style and comfort consistently delivered within this timeframe," says McKirahan. Norwalk has been in the upholstery business for 106 years and in franchising for 20.

With the name change, Norwalk will modify the franchise store logo slightly, replacing only "The Furniture Idea" with "Furniture & Design." The company will promote the new name and design services to consumers in local, regional and national advertising, print and broadcast. Delivery vehicles too will reflect the new "design made easy" focus.

Norwalk's relationship with Candice Olson, a household name in home and garden television, is helping build awareness among consumers regarding design services available at the franchise store level, McKirahan siad.

"Candice is a huge part of our brand and unique design offering," he said, "and endorses our professional design team." Olson introduced her first upholstery collection at Norwalk two years ago.

The new name is accompanied by an optional new look for franchise owners. Eight franchisees who have undergone the transformation have reaped the rewards�reporting anywhere from 29 percent to 53 percent increases in sales.
