Franchise Focuses On Trend In Student Education

LONGMONT | Friday, June 20, 2008

Longmont couple opens a K-12 tutoring franchise and reaps the benefits of starting an in-demand business in today's market

Rich and Kathy DeMatteo both knew they wanted to start a business together. What they found and invested in happens to be one of the hottest franchise businesses today - the K-12 educational services industry with Tutoring Club in Longmont.

Kathy DeMatteo explained what made them choose Tutoring Club for their business. "We were drawn to Tutoring Club from the very beginning. The tutoring programs create an opportunity to help children in the community to achieve at their highest level of academic and personal performance. That was exciting to us." Tutoring Club is a national company offering tutoring for students of all academic levels. Their methods focus on individualized instruction using exclusive programs in math, reading, writing, SAT and ACT prep, study skills and more. Best of all, Tutoring Club programs are "guaranteed to succeed" which inspired the DeMatteo's to really focus on the company as a business option.

Not only did the DeMatteo's find a business that they could believe in, they came upon a real gem in the franchising world. "One of the most in-demand franchise opportunities right now is in the K-12 educational field. Parents in today's society really want their kids to be successful in school and are willing to pay a premium to give them the edge in academics," explained Stacy Swift, franchise consultant and owner of FranNet Colorado. "Franchises like Tutoring Club see a boom in business because of this demand." The DeMatteo's did their homework before deciding on Tutoring Club for their business. They worked with Swift to start the process and did extensive research along the way. As a franchise consultant, Swift matches potential business owners with the right franchise business for them, at no cost to the client.

Kathy DeMatteo stated, "I attended a seminar in which Stacy discussed starting a business. I then researched my options independently and narrowed down the franchise possibilities. We met with Stacy to see which companies she represented, and discussed pros and cons for each as they related to my needs. We decided to utilize her services and make the commitment to purchase franchise rights for the Tutoring Club here in Longmont." Before opening Tutoring Club last October, Kathy DeMatteo was director of a preschool. She was experienced in creating curriculum for schools, as well teaching on a volunteer basis. In addition, DeMatteo has a background in finance with experience leading both not-for-profit and profitable ventures.

"Kathy's business and professional skills were a natural fit for this particular type of franchise," stated Swift.
