4th Quarter Sales Increase Backs up Statement
At their Annual Conference held at Disney World in Orlando last week, Drama Kids franchise owners signed a letter to President Obama advising him in no uncertain terms that their Drama Kids businesses will not be participating in this year's recession. "We wanted to come together to make a strong united affirmation about what direction our business will take in 2009", explained Drama Kids President, Doug Howard. "We collectively agreed that our direction will be full speed ahead and that we will not use the recession as an excuse for lower sales. To make this pledge more meaningful, we each signed a letter to President Obama advising him of our decision and we sent it Priority Mail to the White House. We even overpaid on the postage to help the government out. " Drama Kids is one of the few businesses in the USA that had higher sales in the 4th quarter of 2008 than it did for the same quarter of 2007. Sales for the organization increased 12%, and same store sales increased 7%. Howard believes that parents are still spending money for quality afterschool activities for their children, especially if the activity is perceived by parents as a good value. Howard explained, "If our Drama Kids franchise owners with their natural flair for the dramatic, can't figure out creative ways to increase sales in this economy, than what chance is there for anyone else? So we spent our conference doing just that."
