Rezidor expands African portfolio with three hotels THE Rezidor Hotel Group plans to expand its African portfolio with three more Radisson Blu hotels and resorts - in Zambia, Angola and Tunisia - bringing the total number of hotels under development or in operation to 26 in the continent.

In Zambia, Rezidor will open the Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka in the third quarter - a 142-room property already under construction. The hotel is in the city's commercial district, adjacent to the Mulungushi International Conference Centre and across the road from the Arcades Shopping and Entertainment Complex. "The Radisson Blu Hotel Lusaka will offer a signature Rezidor restaurant, a theme bar, five conference and meeting rooms with a total area of 1200m�, a ballroom, a pool with bar and sun deck, and wellness facilities," says Andrew McLachlan, vice-president for Rezidor's business development in Africa and the Indian Ocean islands. In Angola, the group is constructing the Radisson Blu Hotel Luanda, situated in a prime beachfront location in the central business district at the entry to Ilha de Luanda. The property will feature 257 rooms, 1000m� for conferencing needs, several restaurants with outdoor terraces and a pool, nightclub, and spa and fitness centre. The property boasts views of the Atlantic Ocean and Luanda Bay. In Tunisia, Rezidor has signed up its second resort. It will rebrand and operate a fully renovated resort in the popular Tunisian resort area of Monastir, to be called the Radisson Blu Resort & Thalasso. It will be ready to operate in October. The 280-room resort will offer numerous bars, cafes and restaurants, water sports, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools, and children's activities. "The spa facilities will encompass an area of 14000m and will include numerous swimming pools, saunas, treatment rooms, and food and beverage outlets," says McLachlan.
