Steeler Nation has strong following nation-wide, and pro Images coast-to-coast saw sales increases as fans flocked to local malls in search of Pittsburgh product. With six stores in the Pittsburgh area and nine stores in Pennsylvania, Pro Image was the hot spot for Super Bowl product, including items commemorating the Steelers six Super Bowl victories.
"When a popular team like the Steelers or Cowboys wins the Super Bowl, it affects licensed retail greater than any other factor," said Pro Image President Dave Riley.
In Pittsburgh, fans came out early the week following the victory to get their Super Bowl product before the championship parade was celebrated. School opened late the Monday following the win, so fans could recuperate, and gobble up product in the masses.
The hot items were the locker room hats and T-shirts that the players celebrated in. Other consistent sellers before and after the win have been Terrible Towels and home jerseys. As the first team that has won six Super Bowls, the product mix of shirts and novelty items were unique to this event.
