Marriott Signs New Courtyard Hotel In Moscow

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Marriott has signed a management contract with Fortuna CJSC for its third moderately priced, 170-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel in Russia, and second in Moscow.

The 13-story Courtyard by Marriott Moscow Paveletskaya is scheduled to open in 2010. It will be part of a mixed-use project that also features four separate office towers and a two-level underground parking garage in a campus style setting. Paveletskaya Train Station is within a few minutes" walk of the hotel in southeast Moscow. The area is one of the major international corporate office hubs in Moscow and benefits from easy transit to the city's Domodedovo International Airport through the Paveletskaya station.

"We"re excited by the growing popularity of our refreshing Courtyard brand in Russia and by our expanding portfolio in Moscow," said Reiner Sachau, executive vice president-Continental Europe for Marriott International. "Moscow is an attractive business and leisure travel destination and we"re delighted to be able to offer visitors a range of hotels at varying price points from which to choose." Accommodations at the Courtyard by Marriott Moscow Paveletskaya will be bright, stylish and comfortable and will offer Marriott's renowned plush bed and bath linens; flat screen, high definition TV; high-speed internet access; in-room tea and coffee maker, a refrigerator and an iron and ironing board; and clearly defined rest, work and relaxation areas.

For dining and entertainment, the hotel will have a casual, all-day restaurant and bar that will offer three meals daily and will be a focal point for guests to hold impromptu social and business gatherings or to simply relax. A fitness room with lockers will provide opportunities for recreational breaks.

Other amenities will include room service and a Grab and Go market that will provide various sundries and foodstuffs for guests in a hurry. Business services will be available from the hotel's front desk and an internet corner will be available in the lobby. On weekends, a shuttle bus will be available to transport guests to and from city center for a fee.

For meetings and social events, the Courtyard by Marriott Moscow Paveletskaya Station will have 247 square meters of space consisting of a main 129-square meter meeting room that will be divisible into two sections, two small meeting rooms in varying configurations and two breakout rooms.

The Marriott International lodging portfolio in Moscow currently consists of six operating hotels: the Moscow Marriott Royal Aurora, Moscow Marriott Grand, Moscow Marriott Tverskaya, Renaissance Moscow, the Courtyard by Marriott City Center and The Ritz-Carlton Moscow. The 366-room Renaissance Moscow Monarch Center Hotel is due to open later this year.

A Courtyard by Marriott hotel is now in operation in St. Petersburg along with the Renaissance St. Petersburg Baltic hotel. Another Courtyard property is scheduled to open in this city in 2010.
