PODS Enterprises Inc. in Clearwater is taking its portable storage concept into England.

The company anticipates further expansion with franchising in other European countries in the near future, said Christine Pierce, chief marketing officer.

Latin America and the Middle East also are all expansion areas that company officials are considering, a release said.

Operations in Leeds, England, are scheduled to begin around Aug. 1. Jeremy Bradburn is the operator of the PODS franchise there.

Terms of the deal were not released, but the PODS website says buyers of franchises need "a net worth of at least $1 million. As part of your net worth you will need at least $300,000 in liquid assets, such as cash or stocks, which you can use to invest in PODS." PODS containers are constructed with steel framing and can be stored by the company and delivered to the consumer.

The company also operates in 48 U.S. states, Canada and Australia through its company-owned and independent franchise network.
