New Jersey has had a long history of wine making, as evidenced by its abundance of both wineries and home winemakers. Today, the Garden State is the fifth largest producer of wine in America, and the fifth greatest consumer. These statistics are especially impressive when considering the state ranks as the 47th largest in terms of physical size. New Jersey is home to 24 wineries and more than 50 vineyards. There is a wealth of discoveries in New Jersey for anyone who enjoys wine.
Personal wine making is incredibly popular, as well. Vintner's Circle wine making shops have filled a unique niche: they provide the space, tools, and professional guidance for budding vintners eager to craft their own wine. Customers can choose from more than 80 styles of wine, made from professionally pre-pressed juices from vineyards all over the world. At Vintner's Circle, there is a variety of options for those interested in learning about wine and wine making: customers can schedule individual wine making sessions, join group wine making classes, or enroll in wine education courses.
Vintner's Circle wine making shops, though, go beyond the physical tools and the finished product. For both customers and the franchise owners, the shops provide a warm, comfortable space to enjoy both good wine and good company. Says Mary: "The very basic reason for this venture was that we genuinely enjoy drinking wine and learning about it. The interaction with people in a social environment [is] also a plus." For Don and Mary, opening the wine making shop is also a way to spend time with family: their daughter Amy is the shop's general manager.
Vintner's Circle Middletown will celebrate its Grand Opening on Saturday, June 26, from 12 to 5 p.m. The afternoon will feature live music from a Middletown band, Weathered Sol. In honor of supporting the community, from June 19 to June 26, ten percent of the shop's sales will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The Gordon family will be at the Grand Opening to welcome visitors, both new and familiar, and speak about their wine making venture. There will also be complimentary samplings of the wines specially crafted at the shop, for those interested in a few sips of possibility at Vintner's Circle.
