Wyndham, Masterbuilt In Deal To Make Microtel Inns & Suites Hotels In Canada

The hotel arm of Wyndham Worldwide Corp. and Masterbuilt Hotels Ltd. have entered a master development deal to create more than 75 Microtel Inns & Suites hotels in Canada over the next 25 years.

Masterbuilt Hotels Ltd. is a joint venture between JWI Investments LP, parent company of Western Canadian home builder Jayman Masterbuilt, and Superior Lodging Corp., master developer of Wyndham Hotel Group's Super 8 brand in Canada. Masterbuilt is led by Jay Westman and Marc Staniloff.

"The Canadian market continues to show great potential and is on the upswing, making now the right time to bring the Microtel brand to the country in a big way," Staniloff said in a statement on Thursday.

Microtel Inns & Suites currently has two hotels in Canada. The brand has previously signed agreements for an additional 10 hotels in the country.

Wyndham Hotel Group, based in Parsippany, N.J., has about 7,210 hotels in 67 countries. Its brands include Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Ramada, Days Inn, Super 8 and Howard Johnson.
