That's according to HotelNewsNow.com, which compiled the Top 15 hotel chain list by ranking those with the most guest rooms in the USA's active pipeline. The list is based on data from parent Smith Travel Research and McGraw Hill Dodge Construction.

These chains took the bottom spots on the Top 15 list. Of course, there are chains with far fewer hotels under construction, given the scores of brands fighting for developers' attention.
HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS: Chicago's Magnificent Mile location gets new look STARWOOD's ALOFT: Chain to open 50th hotel Hotel developers stick with what they know In his piece, HotelNewsNow's news editor Jason Freed notes that only one of the many new brands launched in recent years made it into the Top 15.
For the most part, hotel developers are sticking with the same, established brands from InterContinental Hotels Group, Marriott and Hilton since they - and their bankers - know what they're getting.
The exception: Hilton's Home2Suites, which was launched during the recession in January 2009. The brand already has three newly built hotels open and eight more hotels with 871 rooms under construction, which - according to Smith Travel Research data - makes it the fastest-growing new hotel brand.
When it comes to new brands, Home2Suites has succeeded in landing more development deals than Starwood's new Edition and Element brands and the independent NYLO.
