Winnipeg's Getting A Famous Dave's

Famous Dave's Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que is coming to Winnipeg - to open their first restaurant in Canada.

Why are they so famous? Famous Dave's slow-cooks the BBQ on-site for hours, using authentic pit smokers and hickory wood. Their ribs and sauces have won more than 600 awards.

Barbecue fans can start tasting it for themselves by the end of July.

A grand opening at the 11-70 Reenders Square location will feature a "rib-cutting" event, a meet and greet with company mascot WIlbur, and free samples.

Allan C. McLeod, franchise owner of the new Winnipeg location and CEO of Tribal Council's Investment Group of Manitoba Ltd., is excited to bring Famous Dave's to Canada.

"We believe our community will embrace the home spun ambience and 'famous' menu offerings that Famous Dave's is so well-known for in the U.S. Our team is looking forward to our grand opening and representing the Famous Dave's brand with passion by providing top notch guest service and introducing its Legendary Pit BBQ to new fans in Canada," McLeod said in a release.

The 200-seat restaurant will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m.
