She Started Tapsnap With Her Comfort Zone

Monday, June 11, 2012

Kim Deimling started her TapSnap franchise by marketing to her comfort zone events for schools and children. That's where she had the most connections as a PTA leader and substitute teacher with two teenage girls of her own.

The good news is that parents love getting pictures of their children, and that many parents are involved in businesses and ventures that could use some TapSnap phototainment.

Kim started immediately by volunteering her phototainment system at many local school events in March including: the Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair, Utah Grand Prix Volleyball Tournament, and Park City's Trailside Elementary St. Patrick's Day Dance. In April she did the 2013 Utah Odyssey of the Mind State Tournament, and in May the Running with Ed fundraiser in Park City, where teams run from school to school.

At every event, she gave the children pictures of themselves with TapSnap contact information to take home.

"At the Science Fair, all the kids were there with their parents and hamming it up for the camera. Next thing the parents were being goofy too. At the St. Patrick's Day dance, the kids were taking their pictures with the Shamrock sunglasses and green hats I provided as props, and they were all dressed in green," says Kim. "The technology is so unique, exciting and fun. It makes people happy." Now the requests are rolling in for paying events like the Mountain Town Music Fundraiser, end-of-school year parties and graduations, and the Huntsman Cancer Foundation's five-kilometer race, to name a few.

"TapSnap is good for children of all ages, and that includes adults," says Kim. "Park City's an amazing philanthropic town with a lot of high-end fundraisers. And it's a huge sporting town with ski races in the winter and marathons in the summer. And then there's the Sundance Film Festival that brings 60,000 visitors to our little town. I plan on having TapSnap booked 24 hours a day during the 10-day festival." She also plans on bringing TapSnap to golf tournaments. A part-time event planner, and amateur photographer, she says: "There's absolutely nothing out there like this. The social media aspect of being able to share your photos instantly is really unique. And it's a perfect match for my nature I love making people happy and TapSnap does that like a charm."
