Cruise Planners: More Cruise Lines Tout 'Kids Free' Offers

Add Variety Cruises to the list of lines with a "kids free" promotion for 2014 sailings.

The small ship cruise company on Thursday announced that two adults sharing a cabin can bring a child for free on all 2014 itineraries. In addition:

-- Single parents who pay the adult cruise fare plus a single supplement can bring up to two children for free in the same cabin.

-- Couples who book two separate cabins and pay two adult cruise fares plus two single supplements can bring up to two children for free.

As part of the promotion, children also will receive a 25% reduction on all shore excursions. The offer is available for a limited number of cabins per sailing and is for children ages 7 to 12; children ages 12 to 16 will pay a child fare. The promotion is available by calling 800-319-7776; mention booking code Kids Cruise Free.

Also out with a "kids free" offer this month are Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean.

The Norwegian offer allows children 17 and under who stay in a cabin with two paying adults to sail for free. The Royal Caribbean offer is similar but has no age limit for a third or fourth passenger in a cabin to be eligible to sail for free.
