Char-Hut restaurants - all in Broward County - Cammisa hopes that one day people anywhere in the state will be able to eat at a Char-Hut.
"We want to be known as Florida's restaurant," Cammisa says. "We're very fortunate TO HAVE A business is going so well; the future is very exciting." Cammisa, of Davie, is Char-Hut's operations manager. The family recently opened its sixth restaurant, at 12221 Taft St. in Pembroke Pines.
Char-Hut specializes in hamburgers and chicken. What makes it different from other hamburger restaurants is the variety customers have in food selection and preparation, Cammisa says. Food also is cooked in the presence of customers, he says.
"We're kind of unique," Cammisa says. "You don't just order a hamburger; you come to order and get it the way you want it. Most people know us for quality and the fact that we can produce the food so fast." Char-Hut started in Miami after the family moved from Buffalo. Joe Cammisa, Tony Cammisa's father, closed the Miami restaurant to move the business to southwest Broward.
The Cammisas say Pembroke Pines was chosen because of its rapid growth and business potential. The other restaurants are in, Tamarac, Sunrise, Davie. They are planning to open other restaurants in places such as Weston.
Joe Cammisa says the business is family-oriented. For example, he says each Char-Hut has a kids' corner where children can play while their parents are eating.
