I Love This Bar And Grill - Franchise Manufacturer Clash Over Toby Keith Restaurant Gun Ban

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Clunky name, savvy branding? Toby Keith, a country singer worth 65 million in personal assets, bans firearms at his 15 area outlet, including Woodbridge, known to patrons as I Love This Bar & Grill.

Gun control advocates, who have had little traction after Sandy Hook legislation was defeated in the Senate in 2013, may be able to take heart at corporate risk aversion developing rules which Congress cannot, in light of the Scotus ruling in 2008, which overturned the District of Columbia's stringent firearm controls.

On his Facebook page Keith states in part that "It is our desire to provide[d] a safe, enjoyable and entertaining environment for our patrons and staff." It seems clear that even patrons of the franchise seem as divided as the entire country on how to interpret and regulate rights not clearly elucidated in the Second Amendment. The divide between a personal and collective right to use firearms remains a significant point of contention.

Americans For Responsible Solutions, a PAC created by former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband Captain Mark Kelly in response to Newtown and other mass shootings , has not yet responded when asked for comment on the franchise ban.
