Two Men And A Truck Opening New Unit At Montgomery County, Md.

Joey Hale, the owner of the Two Men and a Truck franchise in Chattanooga, is opening a new franchise in Montgomery County, Md. (Germantown, Gaithersburg, Rockville, Potomac).

The opening date is March.

Mr. Hale, 40, has been in the Two Men and a Truck system since 1998 when he worked as a mover and driver for his brother-in-law and father-in-law, who co-owned a franchise in Knoxville.

After a year, his father-in-law, who currently owns five Two Men and a Truck franchises, decided to open a location in Chattanooga and hired Mr. Hale as the manager. In 2009, Mr. Hale took over the local business as the franchisee. Mr. Hale grew up in Birmingham, Ala. and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1996 with a business management degree. He was also in the Air Force Reserve from 1994 until 2005.

He said, "My brother-in-law was working for Two Men and a Truck in Birmingham, and after college we were both looking for something to do and he thought it would be a good idea to open a Two Men and a Truck unit based on his experience with the franchise. We decided to choose a territory that was close to Birmingham, which happened to be Knoxville, and then I started working for him.

"I've always been entrepreneurial and like to control my destiny. I was ready and up to the task. I've been successful so far and believe that if I can do well in Chattanooga then I can do it in other places. I've had my eye open for the right opportunity and the area was open, so I decided to take it." Of Montgomery County, he said, "It's a busy area with a lot of people, which means lots of moving. We provide a great service; whenever you provide a great service and there's a need for it, it'll be successful. I think we can do it better than other people can do it. I have some talented managers within our organization that will move to Maryland to manage the store." Mr. Hale said he is currently raising money for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation via Ironman Chattanooga.
