Embroid Me Of Westchester, N Y Opened By Former Wall Street Exec Tom Newman

Somers' Tom Newman is moving from his career in financial services to open a new EmbroidMe business in the neighborhood.

Newman opened the shop at the Somers Commons Shopping Center on Jan. 20. Newman, a resident of Somers, has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector, five years running a staffing firm and 17 years as an operations manager.

"I am excited to bring EmbroidMe's high quality services to businesses and community organizations in Westchester County," Newman said. "After years of long commutes I am excited to be working here in my community and establishing long-term relationships with business owners and so many of our outstanding local organizations, clubs and teams."

EmbroidMe is "the world's largest diversified promotional products franchise, helping organizations brand themselves and make an impression by customizing marketing products that feature a name, image, logo or message," representatives said. The company specializes in embroidery, garment printing, custom apparel, promotional products, screen printing and personalized gifts.

"I spoke to local business owners," Newman said, "and most of them were either unhappy with their current providers or did not have a go-to company to help provide promotional items for their businesses."

Newman met with EmbroidMe president Mark Johnson and said he was impressed by the business model.

"I liked that it was a global company, and I really liked its structure," Newman said. "It has a fantastic model and on-going support. I felt confident as a new owner."

EmbroidMe has three locations on Long Island and expects to open six additional stores on Long Island and 30 throughout the state of New York within three years.
