"We are so pleased to participate in this effort," said Henri Chazaud who, with his wife Kristen, founded Keepsake Companions in 2009.
Program leaders describe franchising as a career path that enables newly separated veterans to become financially self-sufficient sooner than they might by starting a business from scratch. Additionally, they believe veterans are particularly well suited to franchising because of its rapid training opportunities, scalability, and need for the same management and leadership skills honed during military service.
They note that franchises run on systems and military training emphasizes following procedures with precision, which may better prepare veterans for success in franchising.
A Keepsake Companions franchise provides a business opportunity built around a number of signature systems, including a proven, innovative approach to care of senior citizens; cutting-edge, Internet-focused marketing; an approach to dining which focuses on the "science and art" of food preparation and presentation; and coaching and training that enable new franchise owners to quickly put business practices and systems in place, often in as few as two to three months.
Franchise co-founder /owner Kristen Chazaud said, "We believe military experience can be a great foundation for successful business owners. They have the organizational skills and the discipline to employ our proven systems. Plus, they have the determination to serve others, even when the mission is difficult." "We try hard to give back to those who give so much for us. In addition to offering the VetFran discount, we do our best to attract veterans as caregivers because they tend to provide exceptional, compassionate senior care. And we encourage our franchise owners to do the same." It seems establishing their business in a military town has rubbed off on the Chazauds. They attained over a decade of experience in a variety of long-term care settings as well as a deep understanding of caring for seniors prior to founding Keepsake Companions in San Diego, California. Kristen garnered extensive practical knowledge about caring for seniors while working in setting offering independent living, as well as assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.
Chef Henri is a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and worked in NYC in such fine dining establishments as Maximes, Oceana, La Cote Basque and Le Pavillon. Later, he was responsible for food services at Memorial Medical Center in New Mexico and mastered a spectrum of assisted living community operations in Monterey, Los Angeles, and La Jolla.
