Sanjiv Chopra, CEO of Fitness Evolution, said the company is looking at several potential sites in the region. Folsom, Roseville, Rocklin and downtown Sacramento are among the areas being considered, according to Chopra.
A franchisee for Fitness Evolution bought an approximately 44,000-square-foot center on Fair Oaks Boulevard from locally based Wenmat Fitness.
The center includes the 18,000-square-foot Signature Athletic Club at 6001 Fair Oaks Blvd., as well as the 10,000-squre-foot Incentive Fitness, another Wenmat facility. It also contains 4,000 square feet of storage/shop space and a 12,000-square-foot laser tag business that will be on a month-to-month lease for the immediate future.
Chopra said Fitness Evolution will spend several million dollars renovating the former Signature Athletic Club site, expanding it to approximately 34,000 square feet by connecting the center's two buildings.
Fitness Evolution, which has its Northern California corporate office in Modesto, offers memberships that start at $9.99 per month.
In addition to the former Signature Athletic Club, Fitness Evolution operates a club at Madison Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard and is opening a Rancho Cordova facility soon. The company entered the region in 2012.
Fitness Evolution has locations in Arizona, California, Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia and Washington.
