Zounds Hearing franchisee expands hearing aid business

The owner of Zounds Hearing in Centerville has expanded his franchise business south, and acquired a second location in Montgomery, in suburban Cincinnati.

Zounds provides hearing tests and sells hearing aids.

Franchise co-owner Gary Cornett, of Fairfield, said he acquired the Montgomery location at 9901 Montgomery Rd. in January. That's after entering the Zounds Hearing business last year with his first location at 1001 S. Main St. in Centerville. He and his son Craig co-own the business with plans to grow more in the Cincinnati and Dayton markets.

"I was drawn to possibly buying the franchise because I also like the fact that the market for which this serves is a growing market" - with a need for some time to come," Gary Cornett said, referring to the growing customer base of an aging population.

"I think like anything in the health care space, great customer service and patient experience can make the business successful." Retired from Cincinnati Bell, Cornett also said the business is personal because his father has hearing issues. It was when looking for hearing aid options for his father that Cornett found out about Zounds.

"We're a little different" - because we make and sell our own hearing aids. We don't sell any other brands. For that reason, we're able to offer lower prices than most," Cornett said.
