"We're seeking passionate veterans who have always wanted to start their own business but have never felt they had the guidance or direction to do it," said Danny Farrar, co-owner and CEO of SOLDIERFIT. "I want to inspire others who have recently made the sometimes tough transition to civilian life. I was once in their shoes - now, I want them to be able to walk in mine."
From now through July 27, qualified military veterans can begin applying by completing a franchise application found here. Following the initial application process, SOLDIERFIT will select 10 semi-finalists who will then submit a short video followed by a social voting component to narrow the field down to three finalists. Once the three finalists have been selected, an independent review board will conduct interviews and ultimately award the grand prize to one winner. This winner will be announced on Veteran's Day, November 11.
Farrar, a U.S. Army veteran who served a combat tour in Iraq, and David Posin launched SOLDIERFIT in 2007. Since then, the fitness program has grown to include multiple 10,000-plus square foot centers across Maryland. It encompasses boot camp classes, mixed martial arts, personal training and functional fitness. SOLDIERFIT is a fitness organization based on military values that aims to educate its members on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and lives by its mantra "pride, not ego."
"Everyone involved with SOLDIERFIT is considered family, especially our franchise owners," said Posin, co-founder and co-owner. "We are seeking military veterans to award a franchise opportunity and who share our values and desire to excel in the fitness industry. We pledge to share our expertise with the winner of this contest through our comprehensive franchise training and support system."
The franchise program, developed with the help of Chicago-based iFranchise Group, launched in February and is primarily targeting the East Coast, with national expansion to follow. Immediate franchise expansion plans call for locations across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, targeting Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
In addition to the potential to win the grand prize, SOLDIERFIT also offers a 50 percent off the initial franchise fee for qualified U.S. military veterans. SOLDIERFIT is a member of the International Franchise Association's VetFran community, a group dedicated to providing business ownership and job opportunities to veterans.
SOLDIERFIT's franchise contest is open to qualified U.S. military veterans based on their application and residency. Franchise laws differ in every state and determine some of the rules and restrictions of the contest. For more information and official rules, visit IamSoldierFit.com.
