In partnership with Second Chance Toys, GOT TOYS? consisted of multiple toy drives across numerous days between the period of April 11-19. The toy drive in Maplewood culminated in a presentation to Mayor Victor DeLuca, Mayor of Maplewood. Surrounded by the bright toys donated by the local community, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Second Chance Toys presented Mayor DeLuca with a framed certificate of thanks to the township for its generous contributions.
The 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Maplewood was just one of eleven 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchises across the Northeast that participated in GOT TOYS?. The eleven franchises asked communities in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C. to join them in giving back to disadvantaged children through the donation of gently-used plastic toys.
"We extend or thanks to the people of Maplewood and surrounding towns for being so generous with their donations," said Drew Trautman, owner of the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Maplewood and Board Member for Second Chance Toys. "At 1-800-GOT-JUNK? we take pride in being able to divert over 60% of the junk that we collect from the landfill. This is such a wonderful way to also do this. We look forward to continuing to support Second Chance Toys and have already begun planning for the next toy drive." 2015 marks the eighth year that 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and Second Chance Toys have teamed up to help children in need. To date, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has helped transport over 100,000 toys to disadvantaged children.
