This requires a franchisee to have a Full Service & Supply Center staffed with six team members and at least two Mobile Service Vehicles.
When Dan took over the business, he temporarily converted it to a Tier 2. This option enables entrepreneurs to start a franchise at a lower point of entry and allows a franchisee to keep the inventory in a small warehouse or storage facility and lease two vehicles.
While Tier 2 owners are expected to advance to a Tier 1 location within three years, they also have the option of bypassing this step to open as a Tier 1 model from the beginning. According to Dan, he plans to reopen a full brick and mortar location for the business as soon as possible - most likely next year.
Dan says that he and his family are excited to grow their business, and expand PIRTEK's presence in the Bay Area. They feel that the addition of PIRTEK SFO will be the perfect complement to their original store, located at 1997 Burroughs Avenue, San Leandro, CA 94577, as it will allow them to provide even faster service to their existing customers, and add new accounts as well.
He established relationships with them while working at his previous job at a local CAT heavy equipment dealer, where he worked for 18 years.
Dan held several customer-facing positions while in the heavy equipment industry including dispatching mechanics, tractor sales, managing the parts department, and managing Product Support Sales. In addition to the connections Dan made within the industry, he also gained valuable experience and first-hand insight, which has made him a perfect fit at PIRTEK.
Dan and his family plan to continue to grow their business in the future. He explains that "there are many untapped opportunities in the Bay Area, and they will continue to learn, adapt, and grow so that they can capture that business." His view is that the thriving industries in and around San Francisco could easily support three PIRTEK locations, and possibly a fourth. Dan says that one of the contributing factors that allow him to enjoy such growth has been "that the PIRTEK model is well put together and supportive of franchise owners." Another key to Dan's success is the quality team of technicians that he has assembled. He explains that "hiring knowledgeable employees is key because the talent you hire is what your customer sees as the face of your business." He has sought out employees who have a good attitude, mechanical knowledge, are reliable, and have good communication skills.
