The concept and business of Mark's Pizzeria began in 1982 as one of both necessity and inspiration to the founder, Mr. Mark Crane. After starting a career as a laborer at a large and well known employer in Rochester, NY; Mark was layed off in a company restructuring. Determined to succeed, and without previous experience in the food service industry, he secured a few hundred square feet for a pizza operation in Palmyra, NY at The Garlock House, a former first class country restaurant that had fallen on several years of disrepair and alternative uses. It was here that the basic concepts and recipes of the business were born. Less than a year later, Mark moved the business across the street to the first store's present location. Long days and hard work gradually generated a growing customer demand for both the product and service ideas that Mark has. Adherence to the highest levels of customer service and delivery of a consistently superior product has always been the operating criteria of the company. Equally as important, however, the company takes a great deal of pride in nurturing its employees. Suffice it to say that Mr. Crane considers each employee as "family." Consequently, mutual elements of loyalty, dedication, innovation, and opportunity have played a key role in both employee's and the success of the business. These basic concepts will always be part of the underlying culture of the business: superior product, service exceeding customer expectations, fair and competitive pricing, a work ethic for excellence every time, and a sincere and mutual concern between and among all members of management and employees.
