House Of Bread Introduces Premium Sandwiches And Salads Featuring Freshly Roasted Turkey

SAN LUIS OBISPO | Monday, August 22, 2005

The savory aroma of slow-roasting turkey has begun greeting visitors to the House of Bread in San Luis Obispo, joining the already tempting aromas of freshly baked bread and other baked goodies the bakery is known for. Fresh-roasted turkey is the key ingredient in an array of new premium sandwiches, as well as salads and the classic turkey-noodle soup.

Sheila McCann, founder of House Of Bread, admits that these days it's difficult to step into the bakery and not feel hungry for fresh bread and turkey. She explains that the store's "perfect bread" creates the ideal foundation for an equally perfect sandwich.

"I always felt a commitment to providing the community with fresh and healthy, excellent-tasting products," said McCann. "Adding a lunch menu featuring fresh roasted-turkey sandwiches, soups and salads seemed to be the natural progression. When you pair our fresh bread with roasted turkey and organic, locally grown vegetables, not only do we create a wonderfully healthy lunch, it is truly a superior-tasting product." All of the organic vegetables in the sandwiches and salads come from the farm at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, ensuring that the quality of the produce is of the highest grade, and also supporting the local organic growing community. Customers can choose from a variety of signature sandwiches, including The Old Fashioned, The Turkey Avocado, The Veggie Triple Cheese, or The Cranky Turkey, which combines fresh roasted turkey, cranberries, cream cheese, red onion, romaine lettuce and tomato. It's Thanksgiving in between two thick slices of premium bread.

Sandwiches can be customized with a variety of just-baked breads, cheeses and condiments to suit any palate. In addition to sandwiches, House of Bread also has added turkey salads, served on a bed of organic romaine lettuce and fresh veggies, and topped with House of Bread's homemade croutons and Caesar or Italian dressing. Another new addition is the classic turkey noodle soup, featuring organic noodles, served in a bread bowl. House of Bread is located at 858 Higuera Street, San Luis Obispo, 93401; (805) 542-0255.
