E.L. Bruce founded Terminix International in 1927. Although the company was originally created to provide only termite protection services, Terminix now offers pest control for all types of insects. Purchased by The ServiceMaster Co. in 1986, Terminix is part of the ServiceMaster Co. franchise family, which includes franchise companies Merry Maids, American Home Shield and TruGreen-ChemLawn. Terminix has more than 500 service centers across the United States and internationally.
While working as a chimney cleaner, Kevin Clark was often asked to remove animals from chimneys. Seeing the need for such services, Clark formed Clark's Critter Control in 1983 to remove animals from attics, decks and other areas for pest control companies.
