To celebrate the reopening of the Signal Mountain Road location, the fast food icon will give away a year's supply of free Krystal hamburgers to the first "Sackful" of adults in line by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9. In Krystal jargon, a Sackful refers to an order of 12Famous Krystal hamburgers, and it will be the first 12 adults, age 18 and older, who will receive a Sackful of Famous Krystal hamburgers every week for an entire year (or one could say a "Sackful" of months). And the food prizes will not end there. To celebrate both Krystal's 73rd anniversary and the reopening, Krystal will extend various food prizes, T-shirts and other Krystal merchandise to all of the first 73 individuals in line by 6:00 a.m.
"Our Chattanooga Krystal Lovers deserve the very best dining and drive-thru experience we can provide them, and with the newly built Krystal on Signal Mountain Road, featuring our most up-to-date design both inside and out, this is exactly what they will have for years to come," said Fred Exum, chief executive officer. "We're also excited to give away some great food prizes on our reopening day, including a free year's supply of Krystal hamburgers. We've been doing the giveaway at openings in new markets, and we've had people in line as early as 24 hours in advance of the opening and camping out in all types of weather just so they could be the very first customers. We're expecting the same kind of enthusiasm in Chattanooga this Monday morning." The new restaurant will feature a refreshing, efficient design that pays homage to the traditional Krystal look while showcasing the company's modern, new image. The interior spaces are bright and shiny, harking back to Krystal's heritage with white tile, chrome, shiny stainless steel, and very clean, contemporary appearances. Like all company-owned Krystal locations, the restaurant will also accept payment by credit and debit card and will be an official "Krystal HotSpot," offering free Wi-Fi Internet access to guests. The full-service Krystal will employ between 35 and 40 people, compared to just the nine employees needed to operate the former Krystal Kwik restaurant.
Founded in 1932, Krystal restaurants have become more than sparkling-clean eateries where friendly employees serve up fresh, delicious food. Krystal has become a cultural icon and an experience that virtually every man, woman and child in the South has shared. Nearly everyone in the region has a Krystal memory. The Krystal brand - and the great food, service, value and setting that it represents - has taken a prominent place in the South's cultural landscape. The Krystal Company is the oldest quick service restaurant chain in the South and the second oldest in the United States. The Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company currently has more than 420 restaurants in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
