Locos Deli And Pub To Change Name

Fast Casual restaurant Locos Deli and Pub will change its name to Locos Grill and Pub effective October 1st, 2005. The change was announced to operators by Jamey Loftin, Founder and C.O.O. of Athens, Georgia based Locos Franchise Company earlier this week. The process will be completed over the next six to eight months.

"The name change is a customer-driven change for us," commented Loftin. "For seventeen years, we've listened to our customers and adapted our menu to what they have asked for. While we're very proud of our roots as a deli, we've expanded the menu far beyond that of the traditional deli. Our customers see us more as a grill, so we decided to change our name to fit our image." With over 90 items on its menu, Locos Grill and Pub serves a variety of food including salads, sandwiches, wings, burgers and entrees. The Franchise Company has recently finished a major study of the brand and its perception in operating areas which was, in part, impetus for the change.

Brad Koontz, co-owner of three Atlanta area locations, comments, "It's a far more descriptive name for us. We are a grill and pub. And while the 'Grill' part of the name describes our food, it's the 'Pub' that makes the Locos experience so original. We are the modern-day incarnation of the American Pub. It's a relaxed, come-as-you-are, open environment that allows our customers to create their own atmosphere instead of some manufactured atmosphere being forced on our customers." Locos Grill and Pub was founded in 1988 by Jamey Loftin and Hughes Lowrance in Athens, Georgia. The founders opened two more locations in the college town and became a very popular piece of the Athens culture. With the success of the Athens restaurants, Loftin and Lowrance, along with partners Bridger Loftin and Ben Rainey, decided to franchise the concept. Today, there are twenty seven locations across Georgia and Alabama.
