Mousecar Turning Heads In California Driveway

When residents drive down Marc Howze's street these days, an unusual sight greets them with a smile. With a mousecar complete with ears and a tail at his disposal, Howze recently opened Truly Nolen of America, one of the nation's largest family-run and family-friendly pest control companies, out of his home at 3863 Jefferson Street, Turlock. Like several of his neighbors, Howze has launched his franchise business from home and plans on eventually moving into an office building.

Howze, 44, first became involved in the pest control industry 16 years ago, when his father-in-law began teaching him everything he himself knew about the business. During a successful stint as a supervisor at Western Exterminator in Oakland, Howze first began dreaming of hoping his own pest control franchise.

"I was watching how business was conducted within the company and felt like I could do this on my own," said Howze, who co-owns the franchise with his wife Holley. "After speaking with my wife, we felt if we could find a company with a solid name, I could be my own agent and give people quality service." Howze chose Truly Nolen as that company after reading about them in several trade magazines and exploring their website. In addition, there was one other thing that stood out about the company.

"The company's trademark yellow mouse cars and yellow trucks have helped identify Truly Nolen as the pest control company with a sense of humor and a taste for fun," said Howze. "This gives Truly Nolen its distinctive flair and was one of the main reasons I wanted to start my own branch." Howze's branch includes three employees, one mouse car and one general pest control truck. His service area includes Turlock, Modesto, Stockton, Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose, and the branch provides residential and commercial pest control service as well as pigeon exclusion.

"We look forward to providing high quality pest control to the people of Turlock and the Bay Area," said Howze.
