U. S. Lawns Survey Finds Small-business Owners Remain Optimistic Despite Downturn

According to U.S. Lawns' Grassroots Business Climate Survey of owner-operators nationwide, 74% of entrepreneurs surveyed say the prolonged recession hasn't doused their enthusiasm for going it alone, and 59% report that business is better this year than in 2010. "Small-business owners are looking toward a more productive year in 2012, but many also realize there are some lingering impediments beyond their direct control," said U.S. Lawns President Ken Hutcheson. "Access to commercial credit remains the primary challenge, followed by sustained higher costs for fuel, equipment and employment."
