After multiple phases of the campaign throughout the past year, which included accepting nominations from shelters-in-need across the country, the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society's Fallen Timber location was deemed the winner - chosen as the recipient of the grant based on an internal franchisee-wide voting process and funded entirely from within the Camp Bow Wow franchise system.
At the local level, Camp Bow Wow franchises in and around the Pittsburgh, PA area provided assistance to the Western PA Humane Society, by donating time, in-market resources and an on-site trainer from Camp Bow Wow's behavioral program, Bow Wow Behavior Buddies. That, along with the $50,000 grant, which was funded entirely within the Camp Bow Wow and Home Buddies franchise system, provided: retrofit remodeling, creation of socialization yards, operational and marketing assistance, volunteer and training, fundraising support and more.
In celebration of the completion of the "On Our Way Home Project," Camp Bow Wow's Pittsburgh, PA franchise will be hosting a "Cupids & Canines Charity Casino Night" event on Saturday, February 11th, from 7:30pm - 11:00pm, which aims to raise additional funds for the betterment of the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society's Fallen Timber location (maintenance of the building, medicine, food, electric, etc.) and the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation. Additional details for the event include: Where: Cefalo's Restaurant & Lounge -Carnegie, PA Price: $35 in advance; $45 at the door Ticket Includes: 1 drink ticket, $20,000 in gaming money or auction tickets, for the chance to win the Grand Prize of a trip for two to Las Vegas Event will feature: complimentary desserts and coffee, casino tables, live music by Five Guys Named Moe, dogs for adoption, a cash bar and more "I'm so proud and happy to see the pups at the shelter playing and enjoying their time with the other dogs while waiting for their forever homes!" says Heidi Ganahl, CEO and Founder of Camp Bow Wow. "It warms my heart that they will not have to wait for their new homes in kennels with no socialization or outside time. We're excited to continue to grow this program and expand it to other shelters around the country with continued donations!" "The On Our Way Home Project has given the shelter dogs of Fallen Timber the opportunity to run around and play and burn off energy, which in turn reduces their overall stress level," says Gretchen Fieser, Director of PR and Business Relations for the Western PA Humane Society. "It makes these dogs more adoptable and potential owners are able to see how these pups get along with other dogs. We are forever grateful to the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation and Camp Bow Wow for this amazing shelter transformation."
