Cold weather can take a toll on your whole family's energy level, so inject some excitement for exercise into your routine. Encourage your children to take out their favorite used toys and go outside and play to get out of a winter slump.

Geocaching
For a fun new spin on a scavenger hunt, try geocaching! This activity requires you to use a smartphone or GPS-enabled device. Follow directions to different locations and find hidden items that include a logbook with notes from other geocachers who were there on their own discovery adventure! Help your kids learn more about your area and get some exercise together!

Obstacle courses
This is a great way to sneak in exercise while having fun and working out! Create obstacle courses indoors or outside, depending on the weather. Set up different activities like hopscotch, jumping rope, hula hooping, and balancing an egg on a spoon. Your kids will have a blast and you can even make a medal or gold star to present when they finish!

Make it a family affair
Make a "date" with your whole family to take a walk after dinner, play tag or football in the yard, or play hide-and-seek inside if the weather doesn't cooperate. Get your whole family involved in making exercise a regular activity. If your kids see you having fun, they'll want to join in, and soon getting physical will be a part of everyone's daily routine.
