Forbes named Right at Home the second-best franchise in the country behind Miami-based BrightStar, another in-home care provider.
No other Nebraska- or Iowa-based franchises made the list, nor did any make the magazine's list of the worst franchises.
The magazine grouped its rankings in three tiers according to initial investment to start a franchise. Right at Home was included in the $0 to $150,000 range with an average initial investment of $99,150.
Right at Home franchisees report average revenues of more than $1 million annually, according to Eric Little, the company's senior vice president of franchise development.
Little said home health care remains a "very fragmented" industry without a sole dominant player, which has given the company ample room for growth.
Right at Home has posted back-to-back years of record sales with $265 million in total sales in 2013. Little sees more room to grow as America's population ages. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 10,000 baby boomers will turn 65 every day until 2030.
Their children will need help caring for them.
"If you think about the baby boomer generation, they had three to four kids per family, on average," Little said. "All those baby boomers grew up and had half as many kids as their parents." Right at Home is headquartered in Aksarben Village and has 354 total franchises in 44 states. The company has an additional 42 offices in seven countries around the world.
