Doug's thought process was that since the turnaround time for Internet printers was so much slower than his quick print shop, he would start a marketing campaign featuring what his customers wanted quickly and most often, which turned out to be business cards. Doug knows what his customers want and need, and the high level of personalized service and quality his Minuteman Press franchise offers is also something that can't be found via online transactions.
As a result, the Business Cards in One Day marketing campaign was born, and now the challenge became how to get the word out. As Doug Senn was pondering his next move, he found inspiration on the next Sunday morning in the form of his preacher's sermon. The sermon included a side story that involved people going out to see the world's largest bug to promote a pest control business, and so the seed was planted.
That Monday, Doug did a Google Search for the World's Largest Business Card and the top listing was from The World Record Academy, which showed a photo of a business card that measured 34" by 60". Doug new right then he could make one at least twice that size, and that same day he designed and printed his card measuring a staggering 48" by 96".
With a standard business card being 7 square inches and the old world record card totaling 2,040 sq. in., you can now visit The Minuteman Press franchise in Macon, GA and see The World's Largest Business Card that is 4,608 sq. in., nearly twice as large as any other known business card in the world.
Currently, Minuteman Press in Macon's Business Card remains "unofficially" the largest due to the fact that The World Record Academy requested payment of $9,995 for a "verification and certification fee". When he heard about that fee, Doug said, "If I had that kind of money to give away, I would give it to a local charity instead." That thought led to another great idea by Doug Senn that made this project even sweeter: Minuteman Press in Macon has pledged to donate $5 from every box of business cards sold for the rest of the year to Jay's HOPE, a local Macon charity that helps aid children with cancer. Additionally, Doug and Vicki Senn have personally pledged to match any donations collected in the shop for the rest of the year up to $500. "Doug and Vicki Senn are exemplary franchise owners who not only have big ideas like the World's Largest Business Card, but the fact that they tied in this marketing campaign with charitable donations to Jay's HOPE just shows the kind of heart they have as well," said Keith Cawley, Minuteman Press Regional Vice President.
So the next time you are in the Macon, GA area, make sure to come down to Minuteman Press and see the World's Largest Business Card, support a good cause in Jay's HOPE, and let Doug and Vicki Senn take care of all of your design, printing and marketing needs.
