Prior to coming to California for his initial training, Van Wageningen worked tirelessly along with The Glass Guru's franchisor team to get his Sheboygan, WI location ready for launch. Brian also had been doing a great job about spreading the word that The Glass Guru is coming to town. By the time he came to his Initial Franchise Training, he'd already lined up a number of jobs for his new business.
Brian comes to The Glass Guru with a diverse set of skills and professional background. Brian has been the owner/operator of a semi-truck for the past several years, focusing mostly on long-haul routes. Previously, he served in the US Army as a mechanic. Additionally, he has a tremendous knowledge of the construction industry, and has worked in facilities that required building, welding, and fabrication knowledge.
Like most new franchise owners, Van Wageningen had applied a great deal of thought into what he wanted to get out of his new business. The "why" is often the most compelling part for new franchise owners. Like many franchisees before him, he cites a better "work vs. life" balance. According to Mr. Van Wageningen "My family is what guided me into wanting to start a business where I would be home every night to see my wife Lindsay, and three young children, Bryce, Preston, and Karlie." When referring to his last profession, he states "This job kept me gone all week and only allowed me to see my family on the weekend. I felt the need to be home more and started to seek out new business ventures, leading me to The Glass Guru franchise." As for reflecting on why he decided The Glass Guru was the franchise for him, Van Wageningen remembers clearly; "When I was looking at franchising, I started to look at what was needed in my area, and what new thing was not there. At the same time I was looking into my own business, we were selling our house and our sliding door had a failed window. I came across The Glass Guru and saw that their niche was moisture removal for dual-pane windows and doors. That sparked a light bulb in my head, and now we are opening our own store." Mr.
Van Wageningen is very excited to now be offering The Glass Guru's wide array of value-added services to customers in Sheboygan, Manitowoc, and the surrounding areas.
