College Pro was founded by a college student in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1971. The company began franchising full-time in 1978, expanding across Canada in 1981, and into the United States in 1982. Since then, the business has grown extensively across North America.

Over the past 35 years, more than 8,500 students have operated seasonal franchises employing more than 43,000 other students.
